Marty Erwin Executive Director/Board Member Marty & Holly Erwin are the founders of Engedi Ministries International, Inc. They have been happily married since 1988 and have four children, Quinn, Josiah, Hannah and Benjamin. A radical salvation experience changed the course of Marty’s life, at age 17, and he has now served in various ministry capacities for over three decades. In 1995, while serving his last tour of duty in Biloxi, Mississippi, the Lord shifted his focus from ministering and discipling young teens to pursuing the hearts of men; it was then that the concept of the Discovery Weekend was born. Marty retired from the United States Navy in 1998 and held a church staff position for three years until he pursued other opportunities. After surviving Hurricane Katrina and rebuilding his family home for a second time, the Lord provided the means for the Erwin family to move to their current home in Birmingham, Alabama. It was here that Marty finally surrendered to God’s calling into full-time ministry. As an extension of that surrender, he was ordained as a Chaplain in 2008.

Doug Cornelius Board Member Doug has been married to Nicole for seventeen wonderful years and gives God all of the glory as He remains the central focus in all they do as husband, wife and parents. They have 4 children and three grandchildren. Both Doug and Nicole attended Discovery Weekends in 2003 and 2004 respectively and have continued to serve in numerous capacities since. Together, they have taught a couple's Sunday School class in their local church for the past seven years and Doug has headed up the men's ministry group for the past five years as well. As a family, they have also enjoyed the privilege of participating in several mission trips, including Mexico (four times), Haiti (once) and will soon travel to Honduras for the first time. In Doug’s words, “God really blesses us so much more than we get to bless the people that we are around on these trips. He gives us an abundance of joy and peace and fills us with compassion when we are around the less fortunate.” One of his favorite bible verses that he hopes to always live by is Joshua 24:15, "...as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
